紀傑克與GRE的關係，or Zizek on Writing

最近準備GRE作文，發現紀傑克很有用。尤其是Conversations with Zizek，還有一篇他談寫作的訪談錄（收錄在Critical Intellectuals on Writing最後一篇）。

紀傑克對GRE作文的用處是：

1.他談論的主題包羅萬象，很容易找到寫作文的靈感。

2.他以主題、內容為導向，完全不關心遣詞造句，總是以最直白的語言開門見山地切入主題，而且不斷使用少數幾個片語，例如："in contrast"、"in the first approach it seems to be such ans such, but if you look closer you'll see that it's actually something else." 這讓我從那些GRE高分作文範例中解放了出來。

3.聽過他講話的人就知道，他語速很快，連帶地寫出來的文字或是訪談紀錄也帶有這種快速的味道。這正是我需要的：如果我寫作能夠有他一半速度就妥當了！

4.富於益智性與娛樂性，讀著讀著就會開心起來。

那篇訪談錄本身也很有趣，我將我有興趣的部分摘要如下：

1.不管遣詞造句，開門見山切入主題。挖苦Derrida的文風：Before finally getting to the point, you have to go through certain ballet pirouettes, like "Am I writing this article or is this article writing me?"

2.不寫詩；寫詩像在大庭廣眾之下自慰，過分暴露自我。

3.極端害怕寫作，所以總是寫下一些小片段，告訴自己沒關係這只是暫時的筆記，然後累積到某個時候，開始copy, cut and paste，文章就完成了。

4.There is a certain cliché about intellectuals who pretend to read high culture but who privately read pornography, comics, detective novels; with me it's the opposite...I cannot survive without five or six hours of chamber music per day.

5.無法就音樂（巴哈、貝多芬）寫出好的分析，對此侷限十分挫折。

6.Verso要求寫短一些，不要太難，多放低級笑話，不想出版例如《神經質主體》這樣艱澀的書，但最後，《神經質主體》賣得最好。結論：讀者是明智的，而出版商則是白癡。
